Located in the “Maikal” ranges of the Satpuras, and falling in the Mandla and Balaghat districts of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha Tiger Reserve is internationally renowned for its typical Central Indian floral and faunal attributes. Kanha boasts of over 25 species of mammals. This coupled with healthy density of tigers makes Kanha every nature lover’s dream come true. Besides Royal Bengal Tiger, which invariably does not disappoint us, we also get an opportunity to see the Gaur, the largest of the world's cattle; the Sambar, the largest Indian deer; and the Chousingha, the only Four-horned Antelope in the world. Other frequent sightings include herds of Spotted Deer, Common Langurs and Peafowls.  If you are lucky enough, you might be rewarded with a sighting of the elusive Leopard, Sloth Bear or a pack of Wild dogs. The place of pride however goes to Hard Ground Barasingha, which are found only in Kanha.
