Jim Corbett, the name commands respect, awe and admiration from diverse strata of society. Corbett Tiger Reserve is a tribute to this great hunter turned naturalist, whose study of the tiger is till date unrivalled. Corbett is definitely one of the most wildlife rich reserves in the country. Be it Mammals, Reptiles, Birds or Flora, Corbett never fails to amaze those lucky individuals who get to visit this great National Park. The impressive Sal forests and the huge grasslands (Chaurs), provide a great opportunity to watch the abundant wildlife from close quarters.
The Ramganga river which flows through the park is home to some rare species like the Gharial, Marsh Crocodile and the Otter. The birdlife itself merits a visit to these forests. Over 550 species of birds, including many uncommon varieties can be spotted in these forests. The camp will culminate with a visit to Nainital and also Kaladhungi, the winter residence of Jim Corbett, which now has an interesting museum containing details of his hunting expeditions.
