About Destination

Considered by many as one of the most beautiful places in India, the Valley of Flowers tucked in the hills of Garhwal is a nature lover's dream come true.

Spread over an area of about 87 sq km, this valley was rediscovered by Frank Smythe in 1931. During the months of July and August innumerable flowers of various shapes, sizes and hues adorn the valley creating a veritable multicolored carpet. The valley is home to over 300 Colorful species including Morinas, Himalayan Blue Poppy, Brahma Kamal, Potentilla, Aster, Lilies, and Rhododendron etc.

While on an expedition to Mt. Kamet, Frank Smythe, an English Mountaineer and Botanist, accidentally discovered "the Valley". His book named "Valley Of Flowers" suddenly brought this charming place from obscurity to fame. For more than seven decades, the Valley of Flowers has charmed its visitors. The rich vibrant hues of the valley with the Pushpavati River meandering and overlooked by the towering Rataban Peaks in the background, make the experience of trekking to the Valley a truly unforgettable one. Due to its location in the Himalayas, it also has its fair share of bird and mammal life including the rare and elusive Snow Leopard. Spread over an area of about 87 sq km, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s also a vital part of the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve.

The Foliage Outdoors eco-tour to Valley Of Flowers includes the trek to the Hemkund Sahib, an important pilgrim center for Sikhs. Situated at around 4200 meters, the region is known for large number of "Bramhakamal" flowers and breathtaking surroundings.

The Valley Of Flowers trek comes to a perfect finish with a visit to Badrinath, one of the four pious Himalayan shrines and the scenic hill station of Auli.
